Nursery admission race begins today The Hindustan Times 01-January-2013With distance criteria being given maximum points, the best bet is to apply in a school in your own neighbourhoodNEW DELHI: For a number of parents across the city, it is the time to run around to make sure their child gets admission into a school of their choice this year. With nursery admission forms going on sale from today, the hectic admission season has begun. With distance criteria being given the maximum points by most of the schools, the best bet is to apply in a school of your choice in your neighbourhood. Other common admission criteria include points for sibling in the same school, parent alumni and first child. At Delhi Public School, RK Puram, the maximum number of points 27 have been assigned to the distance category followed by 26 points for a sibling in the same school. If both parents are alumni of the same school, their child can get 26 points. First child/girl child category has been given 7 points. Most of the other Delhi Public Schools are also following a similar point system. At Ahlcon International School, Mayur Vihar, the distance criterion has been assigned a maximum of 40 points while 25 points have been assigned for siblings studying in the same school. This is followed by 15 points for inter-state transfer cases. What is different this year is the Delhi government's directive that all schools will have to follow the schedule they have announced. It is mandatory for all schools to sell and accept forms throughout the 15 days. There were some schools till last year who would sell forms only for a couple of days. This is not allowed under the new guidelines. We will take strict action against any school that will flout the guidelines, said Amit Singla, director, education.Application forms cost a maximum of R25 in all schools and parents cannot be forced to buy prospectus along with forms.Information gathered from Internet Click Here
