Delhi government school students to study free at IIITDs new campusNew Delhi, Oct 29, 2012, PTI: Students passing out from government schools will get free education at the Indraparastha Institute of Information Technology.Inaugurating the permanent campus of the IIITD at Okhla on Monday, chief minister Sheila Dikshit said Delhi government will support all the research programmes of the institute. The city government has been helping IIITD as a catalyst and will continue to do so to make it the best institute to offer the latest knowledge in the field of IT. We will support its research programmes and in return the students passing out from Delhi government schools will get free education here, Dikshit said.The institute, a state university established in 2008, has been functioning from Dwarka till now.Inaugurating the new energy efficient building Dikshit said the government is keen to develop the institute into the worlds best in IT and allied fields by offering highly innovative courses.Metro connectivityDikshit also announced construction of a foot overbridge to connect the IIITD campus with Okhla metro station. The Okhla Metro station is the closest to the campus. But due to the existing green cover between that station and the campus, students have to use the Govindpuri Metro station which is about 1.5 km away.The work on the second phase of the institute at a cost of Rs 250 crore will start soon.Dikshit said the first batch of students passed out in 2012 and more than 98 per cent have got placement in reputed companies with an average annual salaray package of Rs 10 lakh.Information gathered from Internet from Click Here
