Ashok Chandra, chairman of DPS Society, was the chief guest for the event. Deepa Agarwal, author and poet, and Vishnu Som, editor and senior anchor, NDTV 24x7, were the guests of honour. Renu Mital, director, DPS Society, PC Bose, member, DPS managing committee, Bindu Sehgal, principal, DPS Vasant Kunj, Archana Pental, headmistress, DPS Vasant Vihar, and Anita Singh, headmistress, DPS RK Puram, were present along with the overall coordinators of the festival, Shobha Mehta, vice principal, DPS RK Puram, and Vanita Sehgal, headmistress, DPS RK Puram. Three hundred and ninety students from 38 schools participated. Various competitions like brochure designing, bookmark making, story telling, skit on proverbs, news reporting and turncoat were held on the occasion. The valedictory function began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. Vishnu Som, an alumnus of DPS RK Puram, stressed on the importance of simplicity of language for effective communication. Deepa Agarwal remarked that the best way to write is to read. Ashok Chandra and Renu Mital stressed on the importance of such events to promote the love for English language among the students. A slideshow presented glimpses of the various activities held during the day following which the results were announced by Savita Vasesi. DPS RK Puram won the design a brochure and skit on a proverb while DPS Noida stood first in storytelling and turncoat. DPS Digboi bagged the first prize in news reporting and DPS Kalinga won the make a bookmark event. 1,000 students from around 200 different schools. The school principal, Rema Alex Daniel welcomed the chief guest, professor Kiran Walia, minister of education, NCT Delhi, Chunni Lal, observer CBSE, Jaidev Gupta, chairman, Summer Fields School and other luminaries. She reiterated the immensely crucial role played by sports in the holistic development of the students and the need to nurture a sports ethos in the country. Kiran Walia administered the oath and declared the meet open. The programme also included a cultural bonanza.
