For the teachers of CBSCThe Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) honoured 15 mentors (school principals) and 32 teachers for their contribution in the field of education and for the promotion of Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) on September 4, in New Delhi.D Purandeswari, minister of state for human resource development, said that the biggest challenge today is to provide quality education to all. With 13 crore children going to government schools, there is a challenge to provide not just quantity but quality education as well. To achieve this, the CCE has been implemented to bring about a paradigm shift from rote-learning. It aims at providing a child-centric education. This is the first batch of mentors to receive this award by CBSE. This was done through a Mentor-Monitor framework. The mentors helped schools build their capacity through best practices to implement the CCE effectively through a process. The process involved the mentor monitoring of three-five CBSE schools in the neighbourhood and documenting observations through checklists, interaction with teachers, classroom observations, and filling in self-review and mentoring forms on CCE.The multi-pronged approach of the Mentor-Monitor framework exercise is based on two core objectives --- one that the implementation of CCE has to be in letter and spirit and not a procedure on paper, and two, it makes working with teachers and school leaders possible. The report submitted by the mentors helps CBSE in monitoring the implementation of CCE. The ministry of human resource development (MHRD) and CBSE has introduced a number of reforms in the school education system that focuses on a child-centric learning approach through CCE.Under this system, we have introduced the problem- solving assessment (CBSE-PSA) for class IX and XI students and an elective knowledge traditions and practices of India for classes XI-XII in the schools affiliated to CBSE. The CCE system can respond well to the changes in society and that is why we want to encourage it, says Vineet Joshi, CBSE chairman.Talking about the changing role of teachers in the society, Anshu Vaish, secretary, department of school education and literacy, government of India, says, The student-teacher relationship needs to be redefined to bring about a positive change in society. Teaching and learning today is changing at a rapid pace. RTE and CCE together make self-learning and thinking possible. The mentors and teachers received certificates and cash prizes for their contribution at the ceremony. The awards were open to all CBSE schools.Information gathered from Internet from Click Here
