Foreign vocational coursesThe Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Central Institute of Technology (CIT), Perth, Australia, to start specialised vocational courses for classes XI and XII from the academic session 2013-14.CIT is a registered vocational education institution under the department of training and workforce development, Government of Western Australia.The four competency-based courses design fundamental, business administration, music technical production and beauty services would be offered in CBSE schools as vocational education training (VET).According to Vineet Joshi, chairman, CBSE, the board plans to pilot the programme by offering the courses in around 100 to 150 schools. He says that based on the response and influence of the pilot phase, it would be expanded to schools across the country.Design fundamental - This course provides students with the ability to create and communicate design concepts using various design technologies and techniques. Upon completion of this course, students will acquire competency in drawing, and colour theory among others.Business administration - This qualification will provide students with specialist skills of business administration including accounts, keyboard skills and word processing. By the end of the course, students will be able to complete administrative tasks in varied work contexts, manage accounts and use word processing applications, among others.Music technical production - This qualification will provide students with a practical introduction to recording processes including, mixing, editing and post-production. By the end of the course, students will be able to understand copyright and royalties and music industry, among others.Beauty services - This qualification starts students path to success in beauty therapy. By the end of this course students would have skills and be able to provide effective customer service, communicate effectively, demonstrate skincare, sell beauty products and conduct financial transactions, among others.Apart from the above advantages of the featured courses, students would pay much less in comparison if they were to take the same courses in Australia. Curriculum and resource material including assessment plans and templates for lesson plans for teachers and students, for each of the four courses, would be provided by CIT, which will be further contexualised by CBSE for local relevance.Information gathered from Internet from Click Here
