Help desk for EWS forms at zonal offices The Times of India January 10- 2013New Delhi: The Directorate of Education has issued a circular directing the deputy directors of education to open help desks for EWS and disadvantaged groups for the last five days of the nursery admissions January 10 to 15. The help desks there will be one in each zonal office will be responsible for both distribution and receipt of forms for EWS and disadvantaged groups. Each help desk will be manned by two-four teachers. The education officer or deputy education officer will be in charge and personally supervise the arrangements. The help desk will be open from 10am to 2pm. A list detailing forms received by each school will be prepared and sent to the school concerned. The heads of all recognized unaided schools shall ensure that forms received in district office will be considered for admission or draw of lots, says the circular. Heads of unaided schools have been directed to send an authorized representative to the help desk at 4pm on January 15 to collect the forms meant for the school. The guidelines were meant for nursery, KG and Class 1 but most schools had reduced it to only one class. However, with the centralization, parents can apply to all three, says activist-advocate Khagesh Jha. He adds, Many schools accept the forms but do not give receipts to the parents. Some schools make demands for documents that are not required such as income certificates for SC/ST applications. Parents will not face those problems here.
