The Indian School hosts inter-school debate 10 Dec 2012Hindustan Times (Delhi) The 10th Dr Amidas Goradia All India Inter School Debate was hosted by The Indian School, Sadiq Nagar, recently. A forum for ignited minds, the prestigious debate attracted a large number of enthusiastic debaters, representing 28 prominent schools from Delhi and other parts of India. Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Minister of State, HRD Govt of India presided over the competition. Sir Mark Tully, eminent author and former Bureau Chief, BBC India, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The distinguished panel of adjudicators included Amitabh Joshi, Vatsala Kaul Banerjee, Prof. Sanjiva Prasad, Premchand Palety and Anuradha Preetam. The competition showcased the critical thinking skills of the debaters and proved once again that debating is not a dying art. The team from Don Bosco School was the winner and Modern School, Barakhamba Road was the runner- up.The winners of NMNH - HT PACE Interschool Essay Writing Competition visited the Aravalli Biodiversity Park, New Delhi recently. The visit to the biodiversity park gave an opportunity to the students to learn more about nature. Dr. Hussain, scientist incharge, explained the importance of setting the biodiversity park. Students visited the butterfly conservatory, medicinal herbs garden and Rangeland, an open grassland. A film was also shown to the students on the variety of life found.Sneh International School, New Rajdhani Enclave celebrated its annual day on the theme 'Sarva Dharma Sambhavah'. The chief guest Sudhir Yadav, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Naseeb Singh, MLA presided over the function. Principal Ritu Gupta presented the annual report. Awards and trophies were given to meritorious students. School chairman, Subhash Chandra Dhingra, and manager Mrs. Jacob appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers. Carmel Convent School, Chanakyapuri, held the annual sports day titled 'Fastrack' recently. The students showcased their skills in yoga, taekwondo, skating and various other athletic events. Principal Sr. Nirmalini expressed pride and honour in the achievements of the students. Chief guest Sushil Kumar, Olympics silver medalist wrestler applauded the spectacular performance of the students and inspired them to play for the country.
