Uttam School for Girls, Ghaziabad celebrates Annual DayUttam School for Girls, Ghaziabad celebrated its annual day Deep Utsav. Kim Adlakha, managing trustee of the school inaugurated the event. The day kick started with the student fest Aahaan. Paper lamp making, photography, graffiti, rangoli making and art installation were part of the same. The winners were interviewed by the radio station Salaam Namaste. The art exhibition displayed art work of the students where environment friendly items were used. An array of art and craft items that tested ones creativity were prepared by students in the form of hanging gardens, floral art, sparkle balls, lamp shades, styrofoam cups, balloon tree, photograph poles, pin wheels, etc. In the evening, everyone grooved to the foot tapping music played by the college rock band Aalaap. DPS Sonepat hosted the national inter-DPS lawn tennis tournament from November 9 to 11. Over 47 participants from 15 schools across the country attended the event. The programme commenced with the welcome address by school head girl Pratibha Chauhan. School director Capt Mann, PVC Mrs Mann and vice-principal Dr Kaur lit the lamp of knowledge. Coaches, participants of different schools, parents and teachers were also present. The theme of the programme was value education. The Reading Rocket Awards were given to the students by the chief guest. The winner of the tournament was DPS Chandigarh. DPS Noida and DPS Sonepat were the first and second runner-up respectively. The best player was Santveer Singh. The championship trophy was bagged by DPS Chandigarh. Other participants were given mementoes for participation. Chief referee, assistant referee and umpire were also given token of appreciation.Ryan International School, Mayur Vihar-III bagged the overall championship in the Horlicks Wizkids organised by Krayon and held at Delhi Airforce Auditorium. Around 300 students from various schools of Delhi / NCR participated in various competitions and won the appreciations of the judges. Sourav Roy (XI) and Disshadra Poddar (X) won the first prize in painting competition (category A and B). Yukti Jain (VI) stood first in the greeting card making (category C). Abhilasha (VII) clinched the first position in mehandi art (category C). Twenty-four students won the first position in dance icons. The school was also declared the overall winner for the most radical placard display. School principal Sulochana Raja congratulated the winners.Apeejay School, Pitampura organised its annual literary week. The event was inaugurated by Dr Ajay Kr Arora, Principal, Desh Bandhu College. During the weeklong programme, many inter-school and inter-class competitions like book discussion, debate, dramatisation of characters, street play, creative writing, PPT, poster and slogan writing, poetry recitation, etc, were held. Several leading schools of Delhi / NCR participated. Eminent journalists and educationists judged the talents of students.
